Xbox 360 hit 6 mn mark

The console traditionally sells very well in the US, but it's not so lucky in other territories including Europe and Japan, but it looks like the trend is changing. The Xbox 360 recently saw a surge of hardware sales in Japan and now with a 6 million unit mark in Europe, the console seems to be catching up with the PS3 in these regions.

Overall the Xbox 360 has sold more units than the PS3, with an estimated 7 million more Xbox 360s sold worldwide. Sony always had an upper hand in Europe, since it has more popular products there, including the multi-million dollar franchise SingStar.

The Xbox is trying to catch up on the same with its latest offering called Lips. Microsoft followed a similar strategy to capture the market in Japan by releasing many exclusive RPGs. Only time will tell if the Xbox can maintain its amazing run.
