Games2win, the online gaming company, has launched a game called Gunning for Gold inspired by Abhinav Bindra’s winning shot at the Olympics. Bindra, who won the gold medal in the 10 meter Air Rifle event in the recently concluded Beijing Olympics, is the current sporting hero in the country. Gunning for Gold aims to honour Bindra and also inspire the hitherto cricket-crazy nation to think of sports beyond the one-day international and twenty-twenty series.
Players take on Bindra’s role and can have a go at winning the gold medal virtually. You also get to experience and share the moment of glory with Bindra as he received the gold medal in the world’s biggest sporting event. Quite obviously, the setting of the game is the shooting event finals at the Beijing Olympics. Players represent India as shooters as Bindra and have to match their skills with finalists Zhu Qinan and Henri Hakkinen. The game follows the same trajectory as the real 10 m rifle event and the players have to pass ten rounds to win the game. The game also includes an introduction about air rifle shooting for beginners and others who want to learn more about the game.
The game ensures that the players fully understand the effort and dedication that is required to win any game. According to reports, the work on the game started the day Bindra won the medal and was available a mere five days later. It was the brainchild of the founder and CEO of Games2win, Alok Kejriwal and was developed by a team of four people. Gunning for Gold has been developed to be a simulating and electrifying game.
