To those of you wondering why the news on a football match, the answer: in Fifa 09 a new feature called 'Addidas Live Season' simulates real life problems such as injuries to affect the performance of your virtual team members.

There are 250 key changes to the gameplay of this game from its predecessors. A few of them that is easily noticeable once you start playing the game, such as the more active defense. Another visible change is with passes: the delay that was always there with passes; where the player receives the ball and then turns is now changed to the player already ready and turned when the ball is passed to him. Then you have more than just one style of headers, and so on. You can also have custom team tactics -- from making your team, setting your defense and creating charts.

Another new feature that’s sure to please everyone is finally here -- CUSTOM CONTROLS. Yes, rejoice, your controller can now be set to suit your play style.

Other additions to the game include Online Clubs with leagues where upto 50 people can join and compete in 15 leagues globally. The feature complements the 10 vs. 10 mode quite well; in 10v10, as the name suggests, each person will be controlling one of the players -- sure it's going to be really tough to co-ordinate, but that's where the fun lies.

Fifa 09 will be available on all platforms including the Nintendo Wii. The Wii version of the game is called Fifa 09 All Play. The controls are different of course, but here there are 2 modes of play -- the traditional mode and an arcade mode. Moreover, the game on the Wii has more of a cartoonish approach to its visuals.

The official release date for FIFA 09 is 3rd October.
