MTNL is planning to launch its 3G services latest by the coming New Year; MTNL chairman J. Gopalan had stated this in an interview with Techtree last month. Now DoT confirms that the capital will first get to taste 3G services by the end of this year, while Mumbai will follow in January 2009.
MTNL is well equipped with the infrastructure that will be necessary for it to provide 3G services; it is now concentrating on assembling the required radio equipment. It plans to install 7,50,000 GSM lines each in Delhi and Mumbai in order to provide its 3G services.
