The plans, at least for now, seem grand as he visualizes it to be the big daddy of all app stores because the target audience of Sun is way larger than the "millions" of users that current segmented app stores target. Sun estimates its app store user base to be somewhere near the billion mark, making it by far, the biggest app super store ever.
Schwartz also seems to have a fair idea of how the upcoming store would function once it's up. From submitting of applications to the sharing of revenue, he knows it all. The Java Store will feature applications for all Java devices, and not just handhelds as we normally associate app stores with. This could well be the first ever applications store for desktop PCs! Additionally, with the Java platform being fairly strong on the mobile and handhelds arena, there is no doubt Sun would be looking at this space too.
