So what do you do if you are looking for a compact projector phone? Wait for technology to evolve! And evolved it has! Research scientists over at the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Optics have developed a new mini projector that promise to cut down on the flab and the large power requirements demanded by existing phone projection technologies. The new system uses a lens system to project light and images generated by a low power OLED. The use of the OLED means there is no need for a separate light source and the lens system ensures decent image reproduction.
One prototype is already in existence and uses glass lenses. Future models however might use plastic lenses as they can be easily embossed and thus make them cheaper to make. Whatever the case, it looks like the days of lighter, cheaper projector phones is not far away!
