That, however, seems to have hit a roadblock when the company's CEO Hideki Komiyama, in an interview Reuters, said that the company "will take some time" to launch the first Android devices.

The news comes just after Sony Ericsson revealed its quarterly financial report and along with it, 2000 job cuts worldwide. Does this have anything to do with the Android delay? Maybe. However, according to Komiyama, "development of Android based products require a lot of evaluation, as well as a lot of testing, a lot of acceptance from a consumer viewpoint, and there is still some time to go."

The company has been on a downward spiral of late, which has been further accentuated by the grim economic scenario that has hit most handset manufacturers out there.
